Participant Info — Little Apple Marathon (2024)

Participants must be 16 years of age or older on race day to register for the Marathon, 12 years of age or older for the Half Marathon, and there is no age limit for the Relay or 5K.

Participant Limit

This race will have a participant limit of 1,000 runners between the Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Relay. There will be NO cap for the 5K. So sign up early!!

Refund & Deferral Policy

The Little Apple Marathon has a No Refund / No Deferral policy. All entries are considered final upon payment. Transfers to another person are not allowed. Any athlete who allows someone else to participate in their place will face disqualification from the event and not be allowed to participate in future events. There are no exceptions to this rule as it is a requirement of our insurance provider.Funds raised from the Little Apple Marathon are used to support these Charities.

Packet Pickup

Participants MUST pick up their race packet, t-shirt, and timing chip in person at Manhattan Running Company (1129 Garden Way, Manhattan, KS 66502) or near the Start Line on Race Day.You may have someone else pick up your packet if you provide them with your signed confirmation email you received when you registered.

Race Day

Start Times and Finish Lines

  • Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Relay – 8:00 am

  • 5K – 8:05 am

The Start and Finish Line are on the west end of Tuttle Creek State Park.Parking will be on the east end of Tuttle Creek State Park.

Time Limit

Runners in the Marathon will have 6.5 hours of course support. In order to complete the Marathon without being disqualified, you will need a pace of 15 minutes per mile. If you are not to starting the 4th loop by 12:50 pm, you will be asked to stop.

Race Goodies

Marathon and Half Marathon will receive a Long Sleeve Tee that is gender specific. 5K and Relay participants will receive a Gildan Soft Style T-shirt.

Timing

We are using the Chronotrack timing system to ensure that everyone receives an accurate time. Per USATF Rule 245.1, Open Men’s and Women’s top three awards in the Marathon and the Half Marathon will be based on gun time (the order in which the athletes cross the finish line). Age group and Relay awards will be based on timing system time (the actual time elapsed between an athlete reaching the starting line and finish line). A digital clock will be located at the beginning of each loop to indicate the unofficial running time. The digital clocks at the finish line display your unofficial time. Official time is determined by the Chronotrack timing system.

NO ANIMALS, ROLLER BLADES, SKATES, SCOOTERS OR UNAUTHORIZED BICYCLES ARE PERMITTED ON THE RACE COURSE

Fluid Replacement

Bottle Water will be provided at the Finish Line and at all fluid stations (see course map). Gatorade will be in cups at the water stops. If you don’t want to take the cups, then you will need to have your own nutrition ready.

Energy Gel

GU, in assorted flavors, will be available at water stops along the way. There will be other energy food at stations along the last half of the course. If you trained to a particular flavor we encourage you to bring your own as flavors on the course cannot be guaranteed.

Pace Groups

Pace groups will be provided for the following Marathon target finish times: 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00, 5:20, 5:40, and 6:00. So the Half Marathon pace times would be: 1:37, 1:45, 1:52, 2:00, 2:07, 2:15, 2:22, 2:30, 2:40, 2:50, and 3:00

Photography

Participant photos will be taken along the course route and at the finish line. The finish line photography is the only place to get an official shot of YOU crossing the finish line!

Results

Finisher Shirts & Medals

Along with your official #LittleAppleMarathon event shirt, we are proud to award all participants of all events with an exclusive finisher medal.

T-shirts will be Long Sleeve and gender specific for the Marathon and Half Marathon

T-shirts will be Short Sleeve and unisex for the Marathon Relay and 5K.

Awards

The Overall Open, Full Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K will be given to the winners at the Finish Line. All winners in each age group and Marathon Relay awards will be available within 30 minutes of you or your team finishing.

Race Day Cancellation and Race Alteration Policy

It is the primary goal of the Little Apple Marathon to provide and ensure a safe event for participants, volunteers and community people alike. We understand the commitment the participants have made in entering the race, however, the decisions regarding race cancellations and/or alterations will be based on the larger community safety as well as the participants.

Cancellation

The Little Apple Marathon officials, along with city officials will make decisions regarding the cancellation or alteration of the race. Prior to the race, the Marathon officials will apprise the participants of the weather conditions and how the on-course flag system designation works. Marathon officials will describe any changes that may be decided as a result of weather or other unsafe conditions. In the case of a course evacuation, Little Apple Marathon officials and city police and other city officials will communicate throughout the race course; and will direct participants to safe shelters to await transportation back to the start and/or finish area.
